Are you a Mushroom?

"Keep 'em in the dark / feed them bullshit."
So, are we being treated like mushrooms by the magistrates of our proud city?
I was unaware of the latest election due to the fact that in the UK, they don't readily allow Coronary Care
patients access to the internet on Cardiac wards. Those elected were confirmed on January 3rd after a turnout
of 12% of the citizenship at the voting booths. Apart from the mutual congratulatory posts within the next 48
hours, there has been an announcement that the KCC is looking for a new Court Scribe, new Nawab, and new Vizir
to replace those who currently hold these posts. And then what? Well, If I sound bitter, then rest assured, I am not. I am, however, mightily concerned that I am being treated, like EVERY other citizen of the city, as a mushroom. There is always a need to inform the public of the workings and decisions of any governing body. As I said in one of my public postings, it shows consideration for the needs of the populous to be informed, educated and reassured. I do not think this is currently happening, and implies contempt of the citizens by its magistrates.
So what can be done? I advocate the following:-
1) The magistrates should issue a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks, not twice a week) bulletin of their activites,
decisions reached and outstanding issues. This should be made available via the existing Djelibeybi Council
bulletin board.
2) The Djelian Council Archives web-site should be used to hold a record of all these bulletins in addition to
the data already maintained. This is because in periods of extreme activity, they may quickly disappear from
the Djelibeybi Council bulletin board. There's a web-site I hear you cry? Yes - at
enop.org/djbcouncil/
3) The balances of the city reserves should be published every 2 weeks with details of income, expenditure,
projects supported and projects rejected.
4) The dates for the terms of office should be publicly available - again I would advocate the The Djelian
Council Archives web-site.
5) Roles and responsibilities for ALL public offices should be defined and documented so that potential
nominees can find out what the jobs entail. (web-site again)
These simple actions will keep the citizens informed of the progress being made within the city, the needs and
dimensions of the various public roles will be evident, and will allow you, the citizens, to question the
magistrates more closely on any issue as is our right!

I am a proud citizen of Djelibeybi.
I am a thief.
