The previous edition featured an article regarding the most recent elections. The primary topic of interest was the dual identity of Robgea and Echo, but more recent revelations overshadow their transgressions.
If indeed Greygrene controls a voting-alt contingent numbering at least 12, and if that contingent is active in elections involving Gwydion/Sepulchrave, as has been alleged in a previous article, the entire results of the prior election must be carefully revewied:
If this group of 13 (12 voting alts plus Greygrene) was indeed voting against Gwydion in the prior election, they may have drastically skewed the results. Assuming only 12 of the 13 votes should be invalid, it is possible that without their intereference we would have the following results:
Instead of Sygon and Echo as Magistrates, we would have Gwydion and Sepulchrave. Ironically, one set of dual-magistrates would have been replaced by a different (but probably more amusing) set of dual-magistrates. We would have one more active magistrate in Gwydion/Sepulchrave, rather than the otherwise mind-boggling Sygon. Indeed, the mystery of Sygon's election may be solved: He was one of the five (Robgea, Echo, Fewms, Distran, Sygon) which Greygrene possibly chose to vote for with his many alts, to keep Gwydion and Sepulchrave out of the council.
How do we resolve this probable injustice? Should Echo and Sygon resign their seats? Should Sepulchrave, Gwydion, and/or Betta (who would be a Magistrate but for S.A.N.D shenanigans combined with voting misdeeds) be given an official voice on the council, even though they is not recognized by the code an a Magistrate? These are difficult questions which the council and the citizenry must resolve.
But more importantly, how do we prevent such a farce from reoccuring? We must remove the voting alts. ALL of them. If a player has been around for many years without aging, we must presume that they pose a threat. To do otherwise is to invite a Tyrant to rule us all, whether that Tyrant exercises his power directly or by vetoing any laws he dislikes. If we allow this situation to continue, further elections are pointless and democracy is dead in Klatch.
