The Beginners Guide to Turbans
By Disgruntled Ibex.
Klatch is known for many great things, from assassins who smoke strange stuffs, delicate food and, not least, it's clothing. Among all clothes suitable for the hot days and freezing nights, there's plenty to go around. What's more, the turban shop on the west side of the bazaar also makes custom turbans and veils to your order. Veils have
not been thoroughly researched yet, but here comes some info on the turbans.
The amount of choices is enormous - dozens of materials and colours, which can be adorned with scents, gems, feathers, and other things.
Not only is a Klatchian turban stylish headwear, its pockets are ideal for storing small items. If you're more inclined to hiding daggers in your turban, just let them know when ordering, and you'll get sheathes instead. The service and prices are better here than anywhere else: I have yet to pay over 15 talents for a flashy, luxurious turban that takes only one day to complete.
However, although Klatchian turbans are of the highest craftsmaship, they also demand skill from those who would wear them. So far, only a few people have mastered the art of tying them correctly, let alone well. A bonus of Djelian culture above 200 lets you tie it finely - above 220 lets you tie it magnificently - but this has already changed a few times, and may do so again in the future.
Turbans' durability is a poorly researched problem. They have a tendency to break mid-fight, despite enchantments and magic shields. (Whether the contents are lost, too, is not yet verified.) The choice of material is probably one of the key factors, as this is not always cloth. Some turbans must be fixed in a smithy, or possibly even elsewhere, but that has yet to be seen.
With great help from the Djelian Council and the KCC, written by a far-away, far-out visitor, The Ibex, "whose head is topped with a magnificently tied simple white turban that sits majestically above his brow."
The research goes on!
