People got drunk, took pictures, passed out, ate some bad food, and talked about mudding a lot. So what did the rest of us do while sober and lonely?
The Thieves' Guild saw an unwelcome change to covert theft commands (except shoplift). Theft temporarily required at least one empty hand, making it impossible to fight effectively and steal at the same time. Parry and block dependent thieves were especially hard hit: not only could they not keep stabbing, they became vulnerable to attacks while trying to remove their opponents' weapons. Although the commands were changed back after two days, no explanation (or even announcement) of this change was forthcoming from the responsible creators.
This change left many Thieves distraught on Cabbage Day, so they attempted to take out their aggressions on the plague of cabbages that had invaded the Disc. It was observed early on that 'lose cabbage' and leaving the room seemed successful for varying amounts of time. Giving the cabbage to Misty unfortunately resulted in the cabbage immediately reappearing in the player's inventory. Leaving the cabbage in the Netherworld was attempted with a great deal of success, as was putting cabbages in various containers in and out of the player's inventory.
The likely conclusion is that Cabbages stay where you leave them until they see someone else walk into the room, at which point they get scared and use their cabbage-magnetism to return to the owners. Hence leaving the cabbage in any environment where no one (and nothing) else will enter should keep the cabbage happy and far away from players.
Some players also explored ways to abuse unwanted cabbages. Kicking cabbages makes them cry nicely, yet lacks originality. One suggestion involved catapults, though it was not tested. Another involved standing on a steep roof or ledge, dropping the cabbage, and watching the little bastard roll off the edge and SPLAT onto the ground. Crude, but satisfying. Attempts to mail cabbages to admin did not succeed, unfortunately.
