In "The Many Cases of Klatch" we discussed the court actions involving the voting alt cluster of Exece/Inece/Exode/Inode/Exiy/Iniy. But the sordid story of vote rigging does not end there.
The Raw Data Patterning Patrol club was subsequently created by Sepulchrave (and promptly dubbed "Red PP" by Magistrate Fewms) to explore the use of creative analysis of available information to detect wrong-doing. Much conversation ensued regarding the cabal of voting alts, and speculation regarding the mastermind behind them.
Sultan Leyan, during an episode of clearly taking the wrong drugs, accused his arch nemesisesseses Magistrate Robgecho of being the guilty party. But the Editor in Chief, a member of RDPP, was quick to point out that they could not be alts, as Robgecho and Exece had been online at the same time.
Tantalizing tips then followed, directing this Intrepid Girl Reporter to delve into court cases from many years past.
In February of 2007, then-Magistrate Clover opened case 938 against Pumium/Tensuf/Vuding/Udal/Untyet/Demank on the basis of being voting alts and thereby harming Klatch. She provided a summary of finger information from that same day, showing all six to be 10 days old, the bare minimum required to become citizens. Furthermore, they had all last logged on 45 days earlier, indicating that one controlling force had brought them online one after another, perhaps to keep them active and/or to vote. Then-Magistrate Greygrene dismissed the case four days later, stating only:
"There is no basis in the LAW etc for the harshest punishment possible.
Magistrate Greygrene
Eighth Level Wizard of the Demiurgical Djinn DIviners"
Then-Magistrate Keb appealed the dismissal two days later, stating that there had been insufficient discussion among the magistrates to warrant dismissal. She also pointed out that the point of prior activity by the alt cluster was during an election. She argued that the high minimum age requirement for citizenship clearly reflects the desire to avoid voiding alt problems. Then-Magistrate Leyan dismissed the case for the second time, saying the evidence was insufficient.
Kiki then opened case 943 against that cabal of voting alts, as well as Greygrene for dismissing case 938, Leyan for lying about his stance on case 938, and Penguin for being untrustworthy. Kiki also questioned Greygrene's quick defence of the voting alts, asking bluntly if they were his alts. Then-Magistrate Keb removed Leyan and Penguin from the list of the accused, on the basis that Kiki agreed to Leyan's removal, and that Then-Magistrate Penguin had been added only to limit who could adjudicate the case.
Greygrene then posted a lengthy and vehement defense, in a style identical to that more recently produced by Exece and Exiy, using short lines, capitalising with reckless abandon, and throwing in CAPS for important words like "LAW", "FALSE". Clover eventually closed the case, citing the will of the majority of Magistrates and the lack of a clear law regarding alts.
---------------------------------------------------------------
These court cases point to a disturbing possibility: That the In/Ex cabal of six may have been joined by another six-member voting alt contingent created between June and October of 2006. But are they two seperate forces, or are they controlled by one Metacitizen?
It is my opinion that they are one and the same. Both sets have the same number of members, and in each set the members were created one after the other, at approximately monthly intervals. Upon reaching 10 days of age and obtaining citizenship, all twelve then became extremely inactive. Furthermore, I propose that Greygrene is the mastermind behind this cabal. The writing styles of Gregrene, Exece, and Exiy are indistinguishable from each other, and quite unique when compared to other players.
But why would Greygrene, a respected former 8th level wizard and Magistrate, bother creating such an abomination that undermines the very essence of democracy? One likely theory suggested to this Intrepid Girl Reporter is that the alts were not created to vote in Greygrene, but rather to keep out his arch-nemesis, Gwydion. It has been suggested that these alts have only been actively involved in elections where Gwydion or his less nefarious alt Sepulchrave have run for election.
